Personal Background Betsy de Manio, a Florida native and graduate of Hollins College, has been a Siesta Key resident since 1977. She is a sailor and rower, who with her husband, Peter, founded the Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Program in 1991 and the Osprey Oars in 2004, both comprised of students from area high schools and all of which have gained national and international reputations.
