Kristine Chalifoux is a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group and TeamFinke serving buyers and sellers in Champaign, Urbana, Mahomet and surrounding communities including St. Joseph, Rantoul, Tolono and Tuscola. A Champaign resident for approximately 30 years, Kristine combines extensive local knowledge with a professional background that gives her a distinctive perspective on residential real estate: before becoming a REALTOR®, she spent her career as an architect. Kristine’s architectural experience includes residential and commercial buildings as well as work in energy efficiency and sustainability. Today, that knowledge helps her explain how homes work, recognize important property characteristics and help clients better understand what they are seeing when evaluating a home. She especially enjoys working with first-time buyers and takes an educational approach to the process. For sellers, Kristine combines her understanding of buildings with a strong visual perspective. She advises clients on preparation, repairs, improvements, staging and presentation, analyzes comparable properties and market trends when discussing price, and develops marketing around the characteristics that make an individual home interesting. Older homes are a particular passion. Kristine lives in Old Town Champaign and enjoys the craftsmanship and stories found in established homes throughout Champaign and Urbana. When appropriate, she researches historic archives to uncover a property’s history and incorporate those details into its marketing. While this knowledge is an important differentiator, Kristine works across the broader residential market and does not position herself exclusively as an old-home agent. Kristine also works with investors and brings firsthand experience flipping and renovating homes. Her architectural knowledge, interest in data and practical renovation experience complement clients who are evaluating properties from an investment perspective.
