About Tom

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Tom was drafted into the military while attending college and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following discharge from military service, he visited his best friend in Honolulu, Hawaii. Realizing that Hawaii suited him better than Ohio, he decided to stay in the islands. Tom began working in Waikiki restaurants in the evenings and construction during the day, yet always managing to find time to bodyboard and play golf. To explore the outer islands, Tom moved to Kailua-Kona, where he worked in the restaurant industry and with different contractors before moving on to Honaunau to work on a coffee and avocado farm. "Living in a 'coffee shack' was humbling and wonderful," he recounts. It also helped that Ho'okena/Kealia Beach were not far away. Tom eventually moved to Hilo and went back to college, completing classes in business administration and agriculture. He also began his real estate career in East Hawaii. Tom has two sons and has coached baseball, soccer and helped with the Junior Golf Association. He has served on several Hawaii Island REALTOR® boards and has been the recipient of numerous awards for his multi-million dollar sales production for Big Island real estate sales, including the coveted 'Chairman's Circle' Gold Award while an agent with Prudential Orchid Isle Properties (the Hilo Orchid Isle office merged with Clark Realty in November 2013). Perseverance and follow-through is what drives Tom. He maintains an objective approach in evaluating properties and always looks at what's best for his clients. Tom admits whole hardheartedly that living, working and playing in Hawaii (especially golf!) is truly paradise. "Can't beat the people and their spirit", he says.
