Business Philosophy My guiding philosophy is to listen with my heart in order to build a mutually trusting relationship. When I'm working with a client, I keep their dream foremost in my mind and keep checking in to see if we are on target. I always start with the end in mind. What are they hoping to accomplish? What does a successful transaction look like? Sellers have different needs than buyers. Most sellers are concerned with price and what it will take to make their house most attractive to potential buyers. It's important to focus on the "why" they are moving--what is the motivation for disrupting their lives with a move? Packing, sorting, tossing, donating--all of this takes time and energy and is not for the faint of heart. Knowing the end goal, the important timing needs, and what must happen when the home is in the process of being sold--all of these are critical to keep in mind. For buyers, we keep revisiting two basic questions: What would they love? What does it look like exactly? I believe the right home is more than bedrooms and baths and how beautiful the kitchen is. A home becomes a haven for ourselves and our family--a place where we can relax, entertain friends, rest and refresh ourselves. Usually there is a positive emotional charge when we walk into the right home--and this is what I watch for. My spare time goes into creating one-of-a-kind cloth dolls and stuffed animals which I donate to facilities serving children in need. Some of the dolls have been donated to memory care units. Enough people pay me for custom dolls and stuffies to fund my giveaways. Personal Background I have three amazing, wonderful sons, one of whom passed away in 2013 at age 36. I have learned that grief can be our greatest teacher and can empower us to be more awake, more alive, and filled with more joy if we learn to work with the grief and have it serve us. I'm a certified Life Coach. I've written and published four books which are all on Amazon. My most recent book is titled Tilling the Sacred Soil of Sorrow--Tools for Living Joyfully from a Broken-Open Heart. I also write a weekly email called Cuppa Joy to share good news, fun stories and brighten up the week of those who read it.
