Energy Saving Lessons

    Energy Saving Lessons

    Sep 29, 2021

September signals the start of a new school year. Around the home, there are many energy-saving lessons that you can learn. For example, did you know that your water heater accounts for 18% of the energy used in your home? Everyone loves a good hot shower, but you can save energy, money and a possible scalding by lowering your water heater to no more than 120 degrees. Another idea is to wash your clothes on the cold setting, rather than warm or hot, and if you have the option, on the express setting. Again, your water heater won't need to heat water if the wash is set on cold.

September is a beautiful time of year and you may also be able to enjoy turning off the AC on certain days and let in fresh, cooling breezes. A cool breeze is nature’s AC and it doesn't cost a thing.
