About Mary

Although I was raised in the Midwest, my home became the Pacific Northwest as early as 1981 when I attended school in Salem, Oregon. I met my husband to-be at an intensive Russian Language program at the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!). My husband was studying at the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). Together we managed and overhauled a rundown rental property in Salem while we were finishing school.After we finished college, we began to live an active duty military life. My husband served in the Army for 25 years, had one hardship tour and 4 deployments. We PCS'd 9 times, moved 13 times, and enjoyed learning the cultures in eight different states in the United States. We tried to make it an adventure for our three kids. They experienced both the joys of new friends and the difficulty of leaving old friends but overall gained from the lifestyle.As in most military families, we only had one week prior to our last PCS to find an agent, buy a home in Thurston County, and get back to our home base. Fortunately, our agent was extremely helpful. He was there for us 24-7 during that stressful one-week house hunt. We even signed our offer on the back of a car in the park! That was 2004.Since that time, Thurston County has been our home. I worked as a paralegal, first in an internship at JAG on Fort Lewis and later in a private law firm specializing in business. Our children got educations in the school of hard knocks, at Olympia High School, and at Washington State University (Go Cougs!).Our children are all adults now and my husband is recently retired from military service. We are very involved in the community and are dedicated to service in the community. I volunteer with a local Washington State University Extension as a Master Food Preserver, am a member of the Sacajawea Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and if you found me here you know I am a Broker for Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty.I am a great listener.
