About Julie

Julie was born and raised in Cook County and is proud to call Grand Marais her home. After graduation from Cook County High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, then owner/operator of her family's retail business, Joynes' Ben Franklin. In 2006, Julie joined Coldwell Banker North Shore. She is an active member and volunteer for a number of local and national organizations. Julie moved away from the area after college. She chose to come back because she believes Cook County is a great place to live. Julie and her husband, Rodney, raised their children in Grand Marais. She loves the area for its caring community, year-round outdoor activities, amazing educational opportunities, and, of course, Lake Superior! When she's not working, Julie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, attempting to garden and compost, hosting North Shore Morning on WTIP, and taking classes at the Grand Marais Art Colony, Cook County Higher Education, and North House Folk School. A lifetime learner, she tries to take advantage of all the area has to offer.
