Cute Cabins Alert! Here is what happens when an upland, south-facing section of Boreal Woods meets a talented carpenter with a retreat vision: cabins of character appear. All warm wood, inspiring, restful. One is for sleeping, thinking, reading and dreaming. The other for cooking, gathering, story-telling, laying out maps, going deep. The sleeping cabin’s exterior is natural wood, accented with colored siding to transform a cabin into an art-piece. A deck wraps the cabin neatly, a place for pacing in search of spring warblers or shifting the perch to be just so. Inside, light pours in, wood stove crackles and a loft takes dreaming to the next level! Step out to Northwoods Courtyard Living. Across the clearing of clean washed gravel is the gathering cabin. Further along is the outhouse: County approved since two yrs ago! Stroll over to get breakfast going. Step inside, admiring the upcycled lumber timber frame with unique Douglas Fir beams. The Fir came to the shore years ago when his kin of straight-grain 20’ 2 x12 brethren were more common. Now, a board like that is like trying to find an elf, and the cost… oof. Luckily, the resourceful carpenter “knew a guy” that had salvaged the boards from Sugarloaf Cove Logging Camp and carefully housed them to live and soar again in the mind and hands of someone who has seen a thing or two of neat little buildings, sensible scale, shaping interiors to inspire. Water collection tubs come off three of the roofs in three places... Enjoy!
