The forest is a mix of pine and hardwoods, with an abundance of oak and a blend of mature and younger trees. Wildlife is abundant, with plenty of deer sign on the property, turkey sign just beyond, and elk that regularly pass through the yard. The adjoining state land includes the Stoney Creek Flooding State Wildlife Management Area, and a short walk north through the public land leads to the Lee Grande Ranch Grouse Enhanced Management Area.
