About Rey

Rey Colon grew up in Chicago's Irving Park neighborhood and now resides in Evanston. Immediately after graduating from Lincoln Park High School, Rey focused on environmental health, obtaining a license from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for asbestos abatement in homes. He dedicated two years to this work before deciding to further his education at Coyne College, where he earned a degree in Electrical Construction and Planning. With extensive experience as a contractor, Rey has worked on both retrofitting century-old homes and constructing new ones in some of the finest neighborhoods throughout Chicagoland and the North Shore. His comprehensive understanding of home construction is unparalleled. Rey served as a project manager and installer for 18 years, collaborating with top architects and designers to design and install sophisticated home automation systems. These systems control various functionalities of a home, including whole-house audio, theater systems, lighting, HVAC systems, shades, and alarms. Rey founded his own business as a home inspector, receiving rave reviews for his high-quality service and incorporating his extensive construction knowledge along with the top inspection technology. To build his business, Rey attended open houses to establish relationships with other agents and buyers. He still hosts workshops to educate agents, buyers and sellers on proper home maintenance for buyers, the home preparation for sellers and the inspection process. Rey holds several licenses and certifications, including residential thermal imaging technician, sewer scope technician, radon measurement professional with IEMA, lead risk assessor with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and is also a Certified Commercial Property Inspector.
