About Joe

Meet Joe Dobson Joe Dobson was born in Boise, Idaho, and raised on a cattle ranch in Horseshoe Bend. Growing up where the nearest neighbor was six miles away, Joe learned the value of hard work, independence, and community. He often jokes that his family’s ranch was the “small frog in a big pond,” surrounded by neighbors with 12,000 and 30,000 acres of land. Those early experiences shaped his lifelong connection to agriculture and the land. After earning a full-ride football scholarship to the University of Idaho, Joe graduated in 1966 with a B.S. in Agriculture, Animal Science. He was active as student body president at Emmett High School, captain of the football team, and a state officer in Future Farmers of America. His passion for athletics and agriculture continued throughout his life, and in 1989, he was inducted into the North Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame, where he has also served on the selection committee for more than 53 years. Joe entered the real estate industry in 1972 and quickly found his stride. By 1992, he became a listing leader with Coldwell Banker, producing $4.8 million in sales. Today, he is recognized as a consistent multi-million dollar producer, achieving $30.8 million in sales in 2024 alone . With over 50 years of success, Joe has built a reputation as a trusted Realtor® specializing in agricultural, ranch, development, and unique properties across North Idaho. His background in ranching and his continued involvement in the cattle industry have given him a unique niche in land, ranches, ranchettes, and one-of-a-kind properties—though he continues to successfully represent clients in all types of real estate. In addition to real estate, Joe co-owned a ranch at Hayden Lake, where he raised cattle and leased land. He has served as chairman for the promotional phase of the Idaho Cattle Association and remains active in numerous community and agricultural organizations, including: Idaho Cattlemen’s Association (member 52 years, State Director twice) Idaho Beef Council (6 years, 2 years as Chairman) Kootenai County Fair Board (8 years) 4-H Livestock Sales (52 years) North Idaho Sports Banquet and Hall of Fame Committee (53 years) Kootenai-Shoshone Farm Bureau Board (18 years, current President for 10 years) Joe has also been heavily involved in real estate organizations and has successfully completed numerous IRS 1031 exchanges, further broadening his expertise for clients. Beyond his professional life, Joe has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 46 years. Together, they raised their three daughters Mary, Amy, and Tanya. Mary now works as Joe ’s assistant and plays a vital role in keeping the office running smoothly and ensuring clients receive the highest level of service. With more than five decades of experience in agriculture and over 54 years of real estate success, Joe brings unmatched knowledge, dedication, and integrity to his clients.
