About Yumi

Yumi was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from Aoyama Gakuin Woman's Junior College with an AA (Associate in Arts) in English. She then transferred to the diverse learning community of the University of San Francisco (USF) in Northern California. Upon graduating from USF with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Mass Media, she began her career as a member of the editorial staff at Hokubei Mainichi Newspaper. In 1995, Yumi moved to Hawaii and continued to work as a freelance journalist for local Japanese community papers, bridging news and life-style information between the US and Japan for more than 10 years. Although Yumi took a short hiatus from journalism to marry and raise a family in Honolulu, she continued to expand her knowledge of Hawaii's various communities and its rapidly changing real estate market. Yumi specializes in Kahala, Kaka'ako, and condominiums near the University, Kapiolani and Waikiki areas. As a journalist, Yumi developed the professional and ethical skills of research, communication, and reporting with respect and integrity. As an agent, she incorporates these same qualities with her clients, utilizing privileged access to Coldwell Banker's extensive market data and resources. Yumi will find the best properties suitable to the needs of her clients and recommend properties that not only have current value, but that which could become an investment property for the future. On a personal side, Yumi enjoys volunteering at her sons' school Japanese classes and in her free time enjoys watching movies with her family, shopping, experiencing new eateries, and traveling. She also loves flowers and holds an Ikebana Master 2nd Level Certificate. In 2011, she co-chaired a very successful charity event which benefited the American Red Cross for Japan Tsunami Relief Fund.
