About Shelly

After graduating from the University of Georgia, starting a family, and living and working in town for over 30 years, Shelly Magruder has a deep love for Athens and its rich culture. In that time, she has been fascinated by the growth and changes to her favorite city. In her own words, “growing up on a farm in rural Georgia has given me an appreciation of the small town feeling of Athens while also being able to appreciate the thriving art, music and food communities here. The fantastic people, opportunities for learning and the youthful vibe make Athens a hard place for me to leave.” As a volunteer and eventual full-time employee of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Georgia for over a decade, Shelly not only gained a deeper understanding of Athens’s history from its resident experts, but she honed her people, problem-solving, and negotiating skills as well. Throughout the years, Shelly has owned vacation and long term rental property giving her an understanding of income producing property as well as residential. Now, as an agent with Coldwell Banker, Shelly combines her love of Athens and the greater Athens area with her drive to be a strong advocate for her neighbors and community. As someone who has recognized the importance of honest and clear communication throughout her career, Shelly is dedicated to serving her clients with the highest standard of ethics and integrity while offering education and assistance at every step of the process.
