Matthew Breheny is a 25+ year professional in the Real Estate industry in the beautiful state of Florida; and has assisted with over 1,000 Real Estate transactions. "You had to be there to be here" is a saying Matt Breheny, Licensed Florida Realtor believes in and is one driving force why he entered the Real Estate Industry! "After a few Real Estate transactions of my own I realized that my personal interest was not always the objective of the so-called Professionals assisting me with obtaining financing, searching and buying my homes and/or selling them", Matt admits. When Matt purchased his first home, he received a call the morning of the to be closing and was told he needed to bring a little over $3,000 more than expected to the closing. "I was shocked and suddenly very scared because I was not expecting this call. I had to beg and borrow in order to come up with the funds." He was told that this was typical in a Real Estate Transaction and since it was his first home, he did not know any difference. In addition, about 2 months after the purchase the roof started to leak. "When we first viewed the home there were some soffit issues that were being repaired, and we were told all was good. What were we to know, we felt our agent was experienced, knew best and would not lie to us." Long story short, they tried to file a lawsuit to fight the seller and agent who sold the home but found that the legal fees would cost more than the repairs with no guarantee to win! Fast forward approximately eight years and after a couple more real estate transactions Matt thought there had to be a better way. "I had moved to SW Florida and after stints with two jobs with Corporate America I wanted a change and thought I would like to get into Real Estate as a profession. I consulted with some professionals that I knew and trusted and found out what was needed to get licensed." Matt entered the business with the mindset that he was going to make sure he put his client's needs as the Number 1 Priority in every transaction, and he lives by that rule with every client. "I use sports analogies a lot when I explain things and when I am proposed with the question of what is the difference in me vs other agents; I simply say both Babe Ruth and Mario Mendoza were both baseball players, but I am sure if you were assembling a team – you would pick Babe Ruth to be on your side!" If you don't get it – please google both names... Matt was born in Queens, NY. His Father was a USAF Veteran and NYC Police Officer. His mother was an HR Manager and the head of the Breheny clan of three boys and a girl! Matt credits his parents with teaching him to always do what is right and the rest will take care of itself! Matt is a resident of Madeira Beach, Florida and has also resided in the Largo-Seminole area and in Naples and Fort Myers where he started his career in Real Estate. Matt has two adult children, a boy, and a girl and four grandchildren that he describes as "the most amazing things in my life". He enjoys watching and attending live sporting events, loves live music of all types, enjoys boating and is deeply passionate about helping others!
