Some people choose St. Augustine. I truly believe St. Augustine chose me. When my husband's job transferred us to Florida, we spent a long weekend driving the East Coast, exploring communities from Port St. Lucie north, searching for the place we would call home. We found beautiful neighborhoods and lovely houses, but nothing felt quite right. Before heading back to Alabama, I asked if we could make one last stop. I'd always wanted to visit St. Augustine. As someone who loves history, architecture, waterfront living, and charming coastal towns, it had long been on my list. As we drove down A1A and crossed the Bridge of Lions, everything changed. The view took my breath away. The iconic bridge, sailboats gently swaying on Matanzas Bay, the historic skyline, and the timeless beauty of America's oldest city all came together in a way I'll never forget. At that moment, I felt something I hadn't experienced anywhere else during our search. I looked around and thought, ?This is home.? That was the end of October. Before Christmas, we were unpacking boxes in our new home. Now I have the privilege of helping others discover the same feeling I experienced that day.
