I am an Army brat, and that is the single most important thing that has defined my life. I spent the first 18 years of my life moving from one duty station to another. We lived in Germany, Missouri, Michigan, Texas, Florida, and Chicago. 9 schools in 12 years. After graduating from High School in 1972 (Frankfurt American High School, Frankfurt,≠ Germany), I went to work for a travel agency as a tour escort on bus tours to Paris and Amsterdam for military personnel. It was then that I realized my love of new places and travel became a passion. I spent the next 2 years escorting tour groups and filling in my downtime with≠ personal travels. I prefer to focus on a specific town or region and love getting to know the people and history. I love to linger over the local flavors and sights of an area, to explore the essence.≠ ≠ My husband and I found ourselves in a position to purchase our first home in 1981 and decided that Amelia Island was the place for us. Almost 40 years later, I still love where I live and look forward to putting my toes in the sand as often as possible.
