Not everyone has a green thumb. I certainly don't have the ability to start pants from a cutting, but I can remember to water a pot plant once a week. I also enjoy working in my flower beds and designing new ones. When I was younger I wanted to get a degree in horticulture with an emphasis in landscape design. That wasn't the idea of my parents, who paid for my college degree; they insisted it be in business... So it's my hobby instead.
If you are selling your home or getting it ready to sell; keep in mind that the outside of your home is the FIRST thing a buyer sees when at a showing. The yard should be manicured. That means keep it mowed, edged and keep weeds out of the flower beds. Shrubs need to be trimmed and if you can't keep up with a flower bed, take it all out and fill it with rock/mulch and add a few pot plants around, especially near the front door.
The front door... that could be a blog article all by itself! If your door is scraped, the paint is peeling, or it is sun-bleached; Paint It! The front door is the Entrance to your home and again, it is like the yard, the FIRST thing a buyer sees. Make it a pleasant experience for the buyer. An upkept door and porch tells the buyer that the rest of the home is probably kept the same.
