She owned and operated a real estate firm from 1982-1998 when she merged with another local office. During that time, she was also extremely active in the community as she believes that one should give back to the community that supports them. She was responsible for starting a daycare center in her church and has served on the Realtors' Board, Company Advisory Committee, the local hospital board, Chamber of Commerce Board, and volunteered with the YWCA and Meal on Wheels.
