The Vierra Ranch is an easily accessible hunting and recreational ranch defined by its wildlife, oaks and climate. The Vierra Ranch, which is located just 10 miles from downtown Salinas, 55 miles from San Jose is only 12 miles inland from the Monterey Bay which provides a cooler climate than those ranches further inland. The west half of the Vierra is characterized by rolling grassland with numerous strands of oaks while the east half is more mountainous brushland that provides excellent wildlife habitat. This section of the Gabilan Range is habited by black tail deer, tule elk, boars, bobcats, mountain lions, quail and coyotes. In addition, the property is improved with a main residence, barns, a turn of the 20th Century hunting cabin, and 10 acres of irrigated farmland. The property is subject to a conservation easement held by the Big Sur Land Trust for the purpose of protecting the natural beauty and ecology of this land in perpetuity.
