Eric Nelson
0225220941I was born in New York City, but have lived in the Washington area for more than 30 years. I have a bachelors and masters degrees in Economics. For most of my adult life, I was an international lobbyist for a telecommunications trade association.
I decided in my forties that I needed to jump off a figurative cliff and focus my attention on my artwork¿a side of myself I had never committed myself to very seriously. At first, I put my artwork in galleries along the east coast, from Manhattan to Ft. Lauderdale. Later, I opened a small retail chain called Artfully Chocolate¿four stores that were part art gallery, part chocolate shop. Ready to move on to other avenues to promote my artwork, in June 2015, I closed the last Artfully Chocolate. In October 2015, I decided to become a Virginia realtor. I am employed by Coldwell Banker Elite out of Colonial Beach, VA. I really enjoy helping people find their dream home and enjoy answering questions about how art can be used in their new home.
As for my art, I use several techniques including mosaics in bas relief, translucent acrylic on mylar and translucent acrylic on windows. I draw inspiration for my artwork from a quote by 19th century French philosopher who said ¿if you asked me what I came into this world to do, I will tell you I came to live out loud.¿ My artwork is bold and colorful and filled with vitality.
I have served as president of the Del Ray Business Association. I have also served on the Board of Visit Alexandria, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Torpedo Factory Art Cener, and the MidCity Business Association in Washington. I currently live in Alexandria and Colonial Beach with my husband, Edward. I can be reached at enelson@ColdwellBankerElite.com.
