Elizabeth City's Queenswood neighborhood is located outside of the city limits in Pasquotank County which offers large lots, a reasonable HOA fee (~$22 per month), and lower property taxes vs. owning within the city limits. This family-friendly neighborhood is a short driving distance to the Coast Guard Base, as well as, many restaurants and shops. One of my favorite parts of the neighborhood is the large common space between Queenswood Blvd and Kingswood Blvd. Homes are only built on the one side of each of these streets creating a huge open area about 5 blocks long with gazebos, lush grass, and lovely trees. I could image this area being used for friendly football games, sunset walks, and picnics. less

Elizabeth City is a historic Carolina Town with all the charm and hospitality one should expect in North Carolina. The area makes great use of the waterways and great neighborhoods are scattered throughout the town . Universities, parks, hospitals and a coastal vibe all complement each other to form what Money Magazine calls ""one of best places to live on the East Coast." "Situated in the northeastern corner of North Carolina on the Pasquotank River and Intracoastal Waterway, the City lies just west of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and just south of Hampton Roads, Virginia. It is rich in history yet progressive and growing." Officially designated as a Coast Guard City, there is a steady return of former Coasties that return to live in the area after service is finished, they like it that much. less

Elizabeth City is a charming town located on the Pasquotank River, which feeds into the Albemarle Sound. Fishing, boating and walking around the historic buildings are a few of the past times. My favorite place to grab a gourmet sandwich and AMAZING cupcake is Kathy's Kreations on Weeksville Rd. There are several other great places to eat, but her desserts are amazing and I just can't get away from that! E-City is about 12 miles and sits about 12' above sea level. Founded in 1794, its location allowed it to thrive as a mercantile port and it later earned the nickname of "Harbor of Hospitality." Other things to enjoy while there are visit the Port Discover Science Museum, Arts of the Albemarle, Museum of the Albemarle, The Pines Golf Course, Dixie Land Speedway, De'Tours City Tours or check out a book at the Pasquotank-Camden library and read by the waterfront. Also famous for being Home to the United States Coast Guard Base of Elizabeth City.
