The Carson Valley Trails Association opened the Pinyon Trail, which is open to horses, mountain bikes and hikers southeast of the Carson Valley. But where are the OHV trails in the area? Here is a general list of trail area in the region for OHV-with directions. The China Springs Trail Directions: From Gardnerville, take US-395 south for about 7 miles; Turn right on China Springs Rd. (FS-690), Continue about .2 miles; Look for a large turnout on the right; Park/Stage here; To hit the trail, veer right on Horseshoe Bend Road (the road behind the tree that heads southwest, not the sharp right that heads up the hill); The road proceeds past a few houses on the left then over the ridge. Gardnerville Ranchos Gravel Pits OHV Trail Directions: From the junction of US-395 and Highway 88, head south on US-395 for about 5 miles; Turn left on Kimmerling Way; Go 2 miles on Kimmerling Way; Turn right on Tillman Lane; Go about 1 1/4 miles on Tillman Lane; Veer left on the dirt road; The staging area will be on your right. Genoa Peak OHV Trail Directions: From Carson City, take US-395 south for about 13 miles; Turn onto Highway 88 south; Continue 2 miles; Turn right (west) on SR 207, Continue 11.5 miles; Turn right (north) on N. Benjamin Drive; Continue 1.5 miles (N. Benjamin Drive turns into Andria Drive); Staging area is on your left. Johnson Lane OHV Trail Directions: From: Carson City, NV 1) Take 395 south about 10 miles 2) Turn left (east) on Johnson Lane, continue about 4 miles. 3) Paved road will turn to dirt, continue about 100 yards 4) Stage here. Seigel OHV Trail Directions: From Carson City, take US-395 south for approximately 20 miles; Turn left on Pinenut Road and continue approximately 1 1/4 miles; Veer right at the fork and continue another 3/4 of a mile on Pinenut Road; Turn left just before the fairgrounds and continue about 1/4 mile to the staging area, which will be on your left and clearly visible from the road. (Note: If you see the fairgrounds on your right or you come to a dead end, you've missed your final left turn.) Old Sheep Ranch OHV Trail Directions: From Carson City, take US-395 south toward Minden (approximately 15 miles); Turn left (east) on Buckeye Road; Continue approximately 3 1/2 miles; Turn left on East Valley Road; Continue for approximately 1 mile; Turn right on the powerline lined dirt road* (largest double-pole power lines); Stage anywhere along this road; Continue along this same road to the trails. Sunrise Pass OHV Trail Directions: From US-395 and Johnson Lane, take Johnson Lane east for approximately 3.9 miles to the end where Johnson Lane becomes a dirt road and tuns into Sunrise Pass Road; This road connects to a number of trails; As you travel, you will pass Painted Rock on your left approximately 1.9 miles from the end of Johnson Lane; You can proceed into mountainous terrain at this point or continue along Sunrise Pass Road over Sunrise Pass, which eventually leads to Wellington and Yerington. less
