About Ed

  • My name is Ed and this is my time to let you know who I am…not to bore you with the superman stories about being the greatest Realtor that's ever lived or to say that I've sold more homes than all the agents in North & South America combined. This is a time to let you know who I am.
  • First, I am a husband and a father. My wife, Susan, and I have been married for 26 years. We are members of MyChurch and I teach various ongoing Bible studies. We started dating when she was a freshman and I was a junior in high school and were married 7 years later in 1988. We have both lived our entire lives in Columbus, other than our time in college at The University of GA. We have spent the last 20 or so years in the chaotic hectic world of raising two sons…coaching their baseball and football teams every spring and fall for years, teaching them a love for the outdoors, helping with school projects and homework, educating them about faith and the love of the Lord, and on and on and on.
  • My kids are 22 and 19 and are both UGA students. Wow, where did the time go? My passion for my faith and my family are the two most important things in my life. Yes, I love my career. In fact, I can’t believe how much I love my career. However, nothing is more important than my God and my family. It is this passion that allows me to understand our client’s needs and desires even better.
  • In my real estate career, I (like most Realtors) have worn many different hats. People make moves for a ton of different reasons and they are not all pleasant. I’ve worn the hat of a pastor with a divorcing couple leaving the home they raised their children in, the hat of a grief counselor with a family whose patriarch had recently passed away and they were selling the family homestead, and the hat of, simply, a friend helping a friend who lost a job and was forced to downside. Thankfully, I’ve also helped folks in the good times…like assisting a growing family move into the perfect 4 bedroom home when the 2 bedroom they were in just wouldn’t accommodate the new set of twins or the retiring Colonel and family who, after touring the world, decided to settle in Columbus in a beautiful new home.
  • I count the tough situations and the happy moves as blessings. The opportunity to come alongside of families in crisis, or joy, and play a small role in making their transition a little more pleasant is a privilege I wouldn’t trade for the world. These types of experiences are the things that mold and shape us into who we are. They allow us to put our feet in the shoes of our neighbor and truly understand them. Many people in the real estate business look at their customers and clients as “deals” or “transactions.” My approach has always been that you are trusting me with, probably, the largest financial transaction of your life and it is a big deal. It doesn’t matter if is a $25,000 home or an $800,000 home…it is a big deal.
  • I was fortunate enough to be asked to begin training our Associates in 2007 and then, in June 2013, became our Director of Sales & Development. My days are spent helping others in our company implement systems and technology to increase the level of service they provide to their clients. In addition, I act as a personal coach for our Associates, assist them with contracts, and create & teach training classes. In my role on the KPDD leadership team, my primary focus is ensuring that our Associates have the best resources and training that could possibly be available to any real estate agent anywhere.
  • Dr. Kent Keith wrote a book called The Ten Paradoxical Commandments and I think they give us a great approach to the world and our relationships. 1. people are crazy, unreasonable, & self-centered…love them anyway 2. the biggest men with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men with the smallest minds…think big anyway 3. if you do good, people will accuse you of selfish motives…do good anyway 4. people favor underdogs but follow only top dogs…fight for the underdogs anyway 5. if you are successful, you will win false friends & true enemies…succeed anyway 6. what you spend years building up may be destroyed overnight…build anyway 7. The good you today will be forgotten tomorrow…do good anyway 8. people really need help but may attack you if you do help them…help people anyway 9. honesty and frankness makes you vulnerable…be honest anyway 10. give the world the best you have & you’ll get kicked in the teeth…give the world the best you have anyway.
