Ian was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. Growing up on the decks of a commercial fishing fleet, the ocean was a big part of his early life. At seventeen, prior to graduating from San Marcos High School, Ian joined the California Army National Guard where he served for three years prior to receiving an Honorable Discharge and enlisting for active duty in the U.S. Army. Ian was stationed at Ft. SIll, Oklahoma, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq where he earned commendations during Desert Shield/Desert Storm as a member of the 3/18th Field Artillery, a frontline artillery unit that supported the ground advancement of the Army’s 18th Airborne Corps, among others.

After leaving the service, Ian spent time exploring the country he had been proud to serve, eventually landing in Colorado, where in 1997 he started a career as a concrete pump operator. As this new career progressed, Ian would go on to become a leader and innovator in the complex world of high-rise concrete placement; a path that would lead to two western hemisphere records and an opportunity to visit some of what he considers absolutely amazing places.

It was also during these years that Ian purchased a small ranch in Colorado and became active in both the cattle and horse industries. His primary focus was AQHA reining horse with an emphasis on the foundation blood lines. His horses came from all over the western states.

Due to an extreme family need, Ian would leave his career and once again find himself back in his home state in 2008.

During the following twelve years, Ian and his beautiful wife, Julie, would become certified foster parents. Through this period that Ian describes as an emotional rollercoaster on steroids, they would foster and adopt two babies.

Wanting to afford their growing family the brightest possible future, the decision was made to sell their home and move to Idhao’s Treasure Valley in the winter of 2020.

Now that his children are school-aged, Ian decided to enter the exciting world of real estate so that he can help people find their dream home in what Ian says is the greatest state he has ever lived…and he has seen them all…well almost. Alaska and Hawaii are on the list for future visits.
