Last week was Rachael's pick for the month and we enjoyed the chilly evening out together. We started in Lawrenceville on Butler street at LeVia Trattoria, located in the former Cure location. The restaurant is charming but the food unfortunately did not wow. For starters we had the Arancini and the Garlic Rolls.
The Arancini were small toasted orbs stuffed with gooey melted mozzarella centers in a tasty red sauce. ($11) We did not expect the garlic rolls to be sweet dough but they looked delicious, topped with red sauce and lots of melted cheese. ($8)
We decided to split two entrees. One was the linguine with pork cheek, roasted brussel sprouts, an apple cider sauce, mustard greens and hazelnuts. For all of the ingredients, the dish lacked flavor. ($29)
The pork tenderloin was served with a little roasted carrot puree, broccolini and fingerling potato sections. The tenderloin was moist and the dish flavorful. ($24) Great service overall and a cozy spot.
Next we headed for Oakland and tried Treats 'n Beans, a small cafe specializing in pancakes, waffles and crepes. You can choose from a variety of toppings, including fruit, candy, ice cream and sauces. They also offer a variety of drinks and coffee.
We both decided on crepes ($5.50 each) and coffee. The fillings were generous but the place lacked atmosphere and is pricey for the offerings.
Until next month, stay safe and happy eating!
