How did I become a Realtor? I began my career in real estate in an interesting way. My husband, Derek, and I started investing in real estate in 2001 and we decided to build a house for ourselves in Wash Park. We were excited to move in, when much to my surprise, Derek came home one day and announced that he thought we should sell the house. The market was doing well and we could sell for a profit which would enable me not to go back to my sales job after the birth of my daughter, Lea, in 2002. I (reluctantly) agreed and so began the next 5 years of buying land and hiring a builder to scrape and build investment properties (in Wash Park, Platte Park, Bonnie Brae and Cory Merrill). During this time, we were paying a real estate agent to sell our properties. Derek tried to convince me through the years to get my real estate license and to be our agent. Now with 2 small children, it took a while for me to think that was a good idea. Finally, in 2007 I was ready. My first transaction was listing the last property we built. The market crashed a few months later and the country went into a recession. I enjoyed my new job as a Realtor and I slowly started building my new career. I have enjoyed it ever since and appreciate all the clients I meet and work with and the referrals that now drive my business. I hope to work with you and help with the sale of your home.
