Dick Barker has moved 20-25 times in the course of a long business career spanning 13 states and several foreign countries. "If you are looking for real estate negotiation services", says Dick with a smile, "I am your guy."
Dick has traveled a long way from his roots in Oregon. He majored in finance at the University of Oregon (the "Mighty Ducks") and graduated with a BBA. "If I had had the good judgment in my youth to play piano rather than football", says Dick "I wouldn't walk like a duck today!"
Following his first career in business, Dick retired in 1993 as CEO of Omni Products International of Richmond, Virginia when it was acquired by a larger company. He looked forward to a second career as an amateur golfer but "flunked retirement".
Dick and his wife Ginny moved to Chestertown in 2001, drawn to its central location (convenient to their 7 children and 12 grandchildren), its historicity, its spectacular natural landscape focused on Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries, the College, Library, good healthcare and a superb quality of life. "In other words", according to Dick, "absolutely everything a retiree could possibly want or need".
Dick initially joined Coldwell Banker in Richmond in 1995, and then transferred to Coldwell Banker New Jersey in 1998. When Dick and his Ginny moved to Chestertown in 2001 Dick transferred his license to O'Conner, Piper, & Flynn - a predecessor of today's Coldwell Banker Chesapeake Real Estate - and has been actively practicing on the Eastern Shore ever since.

    My Client Testimonials

Dick is very personable and a true professional. He goes beyond the job requirements to ensure all details of the transaction are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner. Our search for a waterfront home took several months through which Dick kept his email listing of possibilities updated for us and tirelessly showed us many of the properties. Finally "the one for us" was available at the right price and Dick's experience and calm demeanor were invaluable in guiding us through a difficult and time consuming multiple bids/offers transaction with a distant and difficult seller. Dick is a real pro and we highly recommend!
I work with Dick on a weekly basis and would characterize him as a "True Professional". He possesses an extensive knowledge of the Kent County and surrounding area Real Estate market both from a sales and rental perspective. He is detail oriented and very responsive to both customers and others who are just seeking information. I consistently hear positive comments about Dick. I would definitely use him for all my Real Estate needs.

Will There Be A Real Estate Market in 2022?

Will there be a real estate market in 2022? The answer depends on whether you are a Buyer or a Seller. Here's the skinny: there is no inventory. That's not hyperbole. That's a fact:These numbers include the career listings: the overpriced, the falling down the houses that only a mother could love. The nice properties - the phat pads, and the fully updated and low-maintenance gems – get sold in 0 days on market. The "market" never sees them. If you're a seller, 2022 is going to be ...
