My Client Reviews
Home buyer in Portland
Brian was wonderful. He was persistent and patient when we looked and looked. His attitude was exceptional. Since I have no car, he took me everywhere. He let me make up my own mind, but he added pertinent comments as we looked. He is the ultimate professional. Thanks, Brian! Nancy Thornton

I worked with Brian remotely for more than a year with a few in person meetings thrown in the mix. Brian was always highly responsive and answered myriad questions and requests I threw at him. He did a fantastic job connecting me with the home I ultimately bought and I'd glad work with him again.

Brian was exceptionally great to work with. If ever I needed clarity on a situation or to talk through the best course of action, he was always attentive, knowledgeable, experienced, and most of all patient. I cannot recommend a better realtor!

Home seller in Portland
Brian McDowell was the utmost professional in dealing with the sale of my home. His tireless effort in helping me get my home ready for sale was outstanding. He had several different options ready for me to go over and was very helpful in deciding which option was best. His knowledge of contractors and professionals specializing in home improvement was impressive. I have been in the retail business for 25 years and the ease of the way he handles the offers and counter offers is extraordinary. He really went out of his way to meet me on several occasions to go over and sign paper work. He comes highly recommended and when it comes time to hiring him again, will do so on the spot.

I met Brian through zip realty on line. He showed us a few homes, but we did not purchase cuz we were waiting for one of the builders to start building a home that we have been wanting for about six months at this point. I told Brian that I'd use him on paper as my realtor,I had nothing to lose, and wanted to do a nice thing for him. He agreed right away! He came to our appointment when I was signing paper work with the builder to go in to contract. Soon as his name went into the contract/agreement, he dissappeared. He did not show up to any other appointments, did not do follow ups,and claimed he was too busy working 7 days a week! For my walk through that was so important,he got the days wrong, and did not show;for my closing he did not show!! When I confronted him,he said that his realtor did not show as well on those days for his home purchase!! He thought that just because he has a check coming,he had to do no more. Why should he come and waste his time when he is already in contract and has the money coming?! Just cuz he has a check coming, does not mean he earned it!! Well he sure thought different. I had to take care of all the problems along the way of my home being built. He did not do a single thing for me. This man should be avoided at all costs!!! He is unethical, unfair, and thinks the world owes it all to him!! I feel like I got stabbed in the back for doing a nice thing for this man. It makes me sick to my stomach from the experience that I had with this person through my home building process. I learned my lesson, and I will never repeat this huge mistake again.!
Response from Brian
It's very unfortunate to hear you feel that way. However upon proper reflection of working together for almost 8 months, I sincerely feel that you were provided fair, honest and proper representation. Even through your personal differences and conflict with the builder, I was your main advocate and always at your defense. While the builder made motions to cancel your agreement, I was able to successfully mediate and positively reason with them to retain your lot reservation so you could move forward with the sales agreement and purchase of your new home.

Brian spent a lot of time finding just the right home for me. I was discouraged at times but he never gave up and now I have a new home.
A little while ago I bought my first house - there was almost a bidding war which would have taken it out of my price range, but Brian avoided all that and got a firm agreement from the other agent that it would be sold to me. Since everything was new to me he spent as much time as I needed explaining everything that came up and making sure that all the paper work was in order. I think the main reason that all his reviews are 5 star, is that he treats you like him one and only client. Your concerns are his concerns, and he works incredibly hard and has a lot of experience to make things go smoothly and the way that you want. Emails and phone calls are answered very quickly and thoroughly - you will never be left wondering what is happening. The selling agent / seller stalled on getting some things fixed, so to keep everything on track, Brian took money out of his own commission to go into the closing costs. He said that me being happy with the buying process, and his reputation was worth more than the money. Brian's says "I always strive to give the very highest level of customer service". Believe it - you will be very happy if Brian is your agent.
Through Brian's knowledge and dedication, he found me and my family a new place to call home. He showed extreme patience and flexibility every time I changed my wish list! He was able to locate property matches that were right on target. And when it came time to react and make an offer on a home I really liked, he did thorough research on other recent sales in the area to ensure I was getting a fair deal. Well that deal was more than fair, it was a major win for my pocket that saved me $4K off seller's original price. I can't thank Brian enough and would highly recommend him to anyone in the area looking for honest and dedicated real estate services!
