Entries must be the original work of a student in grades K-2, 3-5, or 6-8. |

Entries may come in any of the following formats: |
Film: a short film on a VHS videocassette or DVD (no more than 3 minutes)
Storyboard: a traditional storyboard with sequential images, a comic strip, or a series of photographs with text
Essay: an essay accompanied by illustrations
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, originality, and overall quality, with equal weight being given to each criterion.
Each entry must include the student's name, age, grade, gender, contact information, teacher's salutation and name, school address, school telephone number and the parental consent statement set forth in the entry form (with parent/legal guardian signature). Copies of the entry form may be downloaded from www.scholastic.com.
Do not use any materials that are obscene
or not suitable for family viewing in your entry. Do not use any materials owned by third parties, such as
pre-existing artwork, in your entry - for example, you may not cut out pictures from magazines. Do not use the
name, picture or likeness of any person in your entry, unless you have their written permission to do so. At
the judges' discretion, entries that are (a) obscene or otherwise unsuitable for family viewing, (b) in
violation of third party rights (including, without limitation, copyrights, trademarks, or rights of privacy
or publicity) or (c) in violation of applicable law or regulation, will be immediately disqualified.
All entries must be postmarked by December 8, 2008.
ALL ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE THE PARENTAL CONSENT STATEMENT AND BE SIGNED BY A PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN OR THE ENTRY
WILL BE REJECTED. BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED, ENTRANT'S AND ENTRANT'S PARENTS/LEGAL
GUARDIANS AGREE AND CONSENT TO THE USE OF THEIR NAME, AGE, GENDER, LIKENESS AND ENTRY BY SCHOLASTIC INC AND/OR
COLDWELL BANKER REAL ESTATE LLC WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE AND/OR COMPENSATION FOR ANY LAWFUL PURPOSE
WHATSOEVER INCLUDING ADVERTISING, PROMOTION, PUBLIC RELATIONS OR TRADE PURPOSES.
All submissions become the property of Scholastic Inc. and Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC and
cannot be individually acknowledged or returned. Scholastic Inc. and Coldwell Banker Real
Estate LLC are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, damaged, mutilated, postage
due, incomplete or illegible entries or mail. Contest is open to residents of the United
States who currently attend grades K-8. Employees, and members of their families living in
the same household, of Scholastic Inc. and Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC, their parents,
subsidiaries, brokers, distributors, dealers, retailers, affiliates, and their
respective advertising, promotion and production agencies, are not eligible to enter.
Any grand-prize winners from past "My Home: The American Dream" contests also are not
eligible to enter. Void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law.
One entry per person. Winners will be notified on or after January 31, 2009.
All entrants, as a condition of entry, agree to release Scholastic Inc. and Coldwell
Banker Real Estate LLC, their affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors and agencies
from any and all liability for injuries or damages of any kind sustained through participation
in this contest and/or use of a prize once accepted.
By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, warrant and represent that their entry
is their original work and grant to Scholastic Inc. and Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC the
right to edit, publish, promote and otherwise use their entries in any media now known or
hereafter developed, in perpetuity, without further notice or compensation. All entries
(and all rights in the entries) become the property of Scholastic Inc. and/or Coldwell Banker
Real Estate LLC and will not be acknowledged or returned.

One grand-prize winner will be chosen in each age category (3 total) of K-2, 3-5, or 6- 8. Seven (7) runners-up will be selected from the entire entry pool.
One whole-class winner (teacher and students) will be chosen from the entire entry pool.
All winners and runners-up will be featured in a spring 2009 issue of Instructor and/or on www.scholastic.com.
Three (3) grand-prize winners will each receive a $2,000 cash prize from Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. Seven (7) runners-up will each receive a $500 cash prize. All cash prizes will be awarded in the name of the winner's parent or legal guardian.
One (1) classroom will win a $250 cash prize for the classroom or school to share.
Four (4) classroom teachers who currently teach the grand-prize winners (or parents who home school) each will receive a digital camcorder for their classrooms with a retail value of between $600 and $700 dollars.
No prize substitutions, transfers or assignments of prizes allowed, except by Scholastic or Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC in case of unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.
Each prize winner and finalist and their parents/legal guardians will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within fifteen (15) days of notification attempt or an alternate winner may be selected. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners and their families.
