About Donald Diltz

  • Don Diltz is the Managing Broker of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s San Francisco Lakeside office, which incorporates a team of more than 80 sales professionals. As Managing Broker, he oversees daily operations of one of the most prominent real estate offices in San Francisco.
  • Originally from Colorado, Don moved to the Bay Area in 1966 as an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature. He continued his education to earn a master’s degree in applied economics from the University of Hawaii and an MBA from Stanford University.
  • Don’s business experience includes international consulting for the United Nations and the U.S. Agency for International Development in the Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone and Rome. Additionally, he was involved in an initial public offering as vice president of marketing at a biotechnology company, Escagenetics. He also has years of contract negotiation experience, including collective bargaining and intellectual property transfers both in biotechnology and as chief operating officer for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Expertise

  • Don earned his real estate license and began working as a full time, second generation broker in 1996. He joined Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Menlo Park El Camino office in 2001, was promoted to the office’s Assistant Manager in 2008 and completed hundreds of transactions while selling real estate on the San Francisco Peninsula.
  • Selling real estate in the Silicon Valley, Don developed an appreciation for the importance of leveraging technology and electronic communications in his real estate business. As a self-proclaimed gadget junkie, he was an early adopter of the iPhone and iPad, and such social media outlets as LinkedIn, Facebook and blogging, using the platforms as new channels to stay in touch with his clients. He was one of the earliest Agents in his area to use DocuSign, an electronic and digital signature service that allowed his clients to complete transactions over long distances without access to faxing, a process that is now growing in popularity among real estate professionals.
  • Outside of the office Don is an active member of Rotary International and Studio 33 Actors’ Collective. He is the chairman of the Mid San Francisco Peninsula Chapter of Marriage Equality USA, and teaches a real estate continuing studies course at Stanford University. He also enjoys spending time with his son, James, daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren who live nearby.
